Robert Gordon University’s Professor Peter Strachan, Strategy and Policy Group Lead within the Department of Management, will be speaking at a conference session on Legal Frameworks for Renewables at All Energy 2015 today. Professor Strachan, a member of the academic sub-team for the RiCORE project, is one of six speakers for the session which has been organised by the Centre for Energy Law at the University of Aberdeen.
The session will consider the impact of recent radical changes in the policy and legal frameworks for renewable energy:
Events including the adoption of new guidelines on State Aid by the European Commission, agreement by the EU’s Member States on the framework for climate and energy policy after 2020, and the introduction of new support schemes for renewable electricity are reshaping legal structures for renewables in the UK and throughout the EU. In the session, leading academic commentators on law and the low carbon energy transition will examine some of the major political and legal developments over the last year, and will consider how they may impact on investors, generators, and other businesses involved with the renewable energy sector.
All Energy, which is the largest renewables event in the UK, is being held at Glasgow SECC for the first time. The Legal Frameworks for Renewables session will take place today, 7 May 2015, from 15:30 – 17:00 in Conference Room 6. More details on the session can be found on the conference website. Slides and a supplementary script from Professor Strachan’s presentation will be made available on the RiCORE website News Archive.
